The Life
Aiyadigal Kadavarkon was a king of the Kadava (Pallava) line who ruled from Kanchipuram with the sceptre of justice, governing his realm as a trust held under Shiva. A learned devotee, he worshipped the Lord with unwavering faith and composed many songs in His praise. In time he found that the cares of kingship drew his mind from single-hearted devotion, and he longed for nothing but to serve Shiva. So, when his son had grown able to rule, he handed over the crown and set out as a pilgrim, worshipping at shrine after shrine and pouring out his love in Tamil hymns. At last he reached Chidambaram, and there, in the presence of Nataraja, he remained in constant adoration until he attained the feet of the Lord.
